In 1982, our founder Liu Cihui did the unthinkable: he left the state-run factories to start his own. His kiln, 瓷辉钧窑 (Cihui Jun Kiln), became China's first private Jun kiln.
He did this for the love of Jun porcelain, an art form that began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song. It is celebrated as the foremost of China's "Five Great Wares" and was a prized tribute for the imperial court. Its magic comes from the "kiln change" (窑变), an "art of fire" so unpredictable it's said, "one color goes in, ten thousand colors come out". This is why it has the reputation: "gold has a price, Jun is priceless".
He was called "old-fashioned" for his stubborn devotion to tradition, a title he wears with pride. He believes that true Jun porcelain must be handcrafted on the wheel and fired in a traditional coal kiln. Why? Because, as he says, only the "old kiln" can create work with true "flavor".
This is our promise. Junora is not just a brand; it is the continuation of this legacy. Every piece is a testament to the "art of fire" , born from our family's firewood and coal kilns and guaranteed to be a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Our kiln is our family. The craft has been passed down for five generations, from master to apprentice, father to son. Three generations work side-by-side today, uniting the wisdom of tradition with the vision of the future.
(Founder, China Ceramic Art Master, Lifetime Achievement Award Winner)
Called "The First Person of Private Jun Kilns", Liu Cihui is the soul of our craft. Born in 1946, he is a master of the hand-throwing process, and his passion for the art is "as if crazy" . He is the artist who defied the ancient limit that "Jun porcelain cannot be taller than a foot," creating the world's largest Jun porcelain vases.
His work is collected by the US National Museum and the Taiwan Palace Museum. Today, he still insists on firing with the traditional coal kiln, believing it is the only way to achieve the true "flavor" of Jun porcelain.
(Technical Director, Henan Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts)
As the fourth-generation successor and Art Director, Liu Chaoyuan carries the artistic legacy. He is a Master of Arts and Crafts and an official representative of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
He works with his father, Liu Cihui, to create monumental, record-breaking works, including the 3.56-meter "Great Panlong Vase". He also serves as the kiln's global ambassador, presenting his family's art to world leaders, including the former presidents of Germany and South Korea and the former prime ministers of France and Japan.
(Art Director, National Senior Craft Artist)
As the fifth-generation successor, Liu Yuquan bridges our heritage with the future. He serves as the Technical Director, leading the kiln's innovation and glaze research. He deeply understands the principle of "shape is the body, glaze is the soul" and has personally developed over 130 new glaze recipes.
His work, which blends ancient techniques with a modern aesthetic, has been featured on CCTV's "Inheritance" program. His creations have been acquired by the National Museum of China and the Palace Museum (Forbidden City).
Our family's work is defined by a unique aesthetic known as the "Liu Style." It is a philosophy that balances a deep respect for tradition with a bold, innovative spirit. This style is known for three key elements
Thick, Living Glaze with 3D Layers Our work is famous for its thick, lively, and milky-smooth glaze. The colors are not flat; they float at different depths - some at the bottom, some suspended in the middle, and some on the surface, creating a powerful three-dimensional effect.
A Unique, Vibrant Color Palette The "Liu Style" is characterized by "glaze that is beautiful and full of 'qi' (energy)". This results in a unique, splendid, and moist glaze with rich, dazzling, and multi-layered colors. We have developed over 130 of our own glaze recipes to achieve this effect.
Mastery of Form, from Classic to Monumental We honor the classic Jun porcelain forms like vases, bowls, and tripods. However, our style is also defined by "diverse and varied modeling" , including large-scale animal and human sculptures, massive ceremonial tripods, and our world-renowned Jun Porcelain Master Chairs.
